Presentation of the Foundation
Introduction of
Artmia Foundation
Artmia Foundation was established by Dr Mia Jin in 2012. Together with friends who share our vision of renascence and progress of East Asian contemporary art, the foundation has been devoted itself to disclose a new stage of East Asian contemporary art by various public projects and exhibitions of young and emerging artists.
Yi Jing ( 藝境 ) is our ideological basis, which signifies the spiritual realm of being attained through arts. It is an uncharted realm that seeks permanence of soul, and perpetually creates and rejuvenates life by virtue of arts. With efforts to generating spiritual community and leading intercourse between art and other spheres based on the core value of Yi Jing as well as with elaboration of creation, interchange and dissemination of art, the foundation aspires to stimulate and forward individuals sensibility.
The foundation has been established itself by a series of projects related with contemporary art of the East Asian region since its inauguration, and the foundation initiated the East Asian Contemporary Art (EACA) support program in 2017. Artists who have an insight into‘now’and‘here’along with creativity and talent have been selected by the rigorous appraisal of selection committee members every year. Then, the foundation has been provided unique opportunities such as exhibitions and artist-in-residence program for the artists. Furthermore, under our ideological basis, the foundation is conducting public art projects contributing to both the individual and society. Serving an opportunity to redefine the relationship between nature and culture, and the perception of surrounding environment by artworks and public design projects which are retaining and considering locality, the foundation endeavours to bring the individual and society together.
